A ready manuscript
Before choosing where to publish: a finished book, read by others and corrected.
Finish the first draft
Get to the end without correcting. A daily word goal helps: in Mitros you set it in Writing goals and see your streak.
Let it rest
Two or three weeks without opening it: when you read it again you see the problems as a reader would.
Story revision
Plot first, sentences later: pace, scenes that do not serve, consistent characters, right dates and ages (the Mitros Timeline works out the ages). Move the Points of the Thread if the order does not work.
Test readers (beta readers)
Three to five readers of your genre, not only friends. Send them the Mitros Review package: they open it with a click, suggest changes and you import them in Corrections.
Proofreading
Typos, punctuation, repetitions. If you can, a professional proofreader or editor; otherwise several reading rounds, also aloud (the Mitros advanced editor reads the text to you).
Title and blurbs
Title (and subtitle), one sentence that sums up the book, the back-cover blurb (150–200 words, without the ending) and a short author bio.
Proof of date and authorship
Copyright exists as soon as you write; a deposit (e.g. the U.S. Copyright Office, or services with a timestamp) gives a certain date. See «Copyright protection» below.
Prices, percentages and rules change: always check the official pages. Guide updated in October 2026.
